How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon? – Dr. Seuss
How is it September already?! The summer has come and sadly gone. In less than one week I’ll be another year older. While most people evaluate their life and make resolutions on New Year’s, I review my accomplishments and failures every September. This is the month I make “resolutions” for my personal new year.
This year I
want to will learn how to better manage my time. Somehow I graduated college without mastering the art of time management. I really should’ve received my bachelor of science in procrastination. Can that be a thing? Just kidding…maybe.
My husband and I went to IKEA this past weekend and, among other things, I walked out with an alarm clock. Why did I buy an alarm clock when I can use my phone to wake up? Good question. The answer to that brings me to my next resolution. I want to be less attached (read: addicted) to my phone. More specifically, I want to lessen my use of social media. Every morning when I wake I pick up my phone from my nightstand and begin mindlessly checking my Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. The minutes of scrolling through a feed of mundane posts add up quickly and before I know it I have to rush to get to work on time. It’s time to change.
I am in the process of making my bedroom a technology-free zone, and yes I will absolutely post about that soon! I bought the journal pictured above to disconnect myself. My plan is to stop using my phone and laptop an hour before going to bed. I’ll write in my journal to give myself a nightly mental break.
With the help of an alarm clock and a journal I will make better use of my time. Time is the most precious commodity my friends. We are allotted a certain, yet unknown, amount of time. We cannot buy more time. We can only spend it. I don’t know about you, but I want to spend my time doing what I enjoy most with those I love.
Thank you for reading. Until next time!
